How to Be Successful with Print on Demand Sites like Teepublic

Istarted useing print on demand sites 4 years ago. My first one being Redbubble. Once I learned the tricks with that site, I started experimenting with other sites.

So you’re a artist and you have determined your style, and you have started usieng social media for it. Great! Now What?

I use print on demand sites because its easier for me. If you have no clue what I’m talking about check out this blog post, where I explain the basics of Print on demand sites.

1. Resize your work – I use 9000 pixels by the approrate pixels and save the file in a .jpeg, a .png ( for t-shirts and stickers) and a .psd file for any future edits. I change the file size to landscape/horizontal if needed. Usually the 9000 pixel by 9000 pixel square fits all of the products including duvet covers.

2. Pick a site – Their are literaly so many sites. Find one that works for you & sign up. Most are free. If you pick Society6, you will have to pay a $1 for signnig up. It will be worth it.

3. Upload the work – Once you have signed up. Upload the work.

4. Name, Description and & Tags – You must pick a name for your work and desrcibe your work. What is your work? What inspired your work? What media did you use to create this work? Last you NEED at least 10 – 15 good tags. This will help your work get found with in the site.

5. Make your art fit the product – The orginal design can work for prints. The .png file can be utilized for stickers and apperal. Create patterns for larger prodcuts like leggings and duvet covers. For notebooks either create a pattern or have the design on both sides. Often you the site will provide templates to help get your art looking its best on its prodcuts.

6. Promote – Utilize social media! use the sites hashtag. Maybe the site will notice you.

7. Let the waiting game begin – You won ‘t be a star even with great art, tags and descritions during the first month….it takes a while.

***Note: These sites like artists that have a specific niche. If you have determined your niche the site will notice you faster.

With millions of artists on these sites, you need to stand out!
