Recently, I started a #shareyourstory to help other artists who are trying to gain sales or that are just beginning their journey with Print On Demand shops, such as Redbubble and Society6.
I reached out to some of my favorite artists to get some of their tips and what they do to keep sales coming. These artists were once beginners too. I reached out to some of my favorite artists through Instagram and Twitter.
- @SoaringAnchorDesigns
- @CatCoq

The tip that I have received the most of so far is
“Do what you love and don’t give up”
Other tips I have received is
- use relevant tags – to allow your artwork to be found
- Create artwork that you like. If you like it, then someone else will too.
- Patience – good things will come to those who wait
- If you have a few sales, more will follow.
- Be original! – though I tend to follow some of the whats popular and trends in media. Much of my ideas are based on the thoughts in my head or what I like at the moment.
- use social media – promote your latest products, show glimpses of what you are currently working on – let your fans find you! Don’t go searching for them!
- Follow, promote, comment – Following other artists and leaving a nice comment is a good way to get a new fan of your work!
- Pure luck – Some designs will take off soon while others won’t for a while.
- The amount of likes and comments will help your work move up in stores like Society6, but it will NOT increase sales.
- Consistency is key – I add new one new work every day. Then promote that work through my social media accounts and Facebook groups.
- Sharing your work through Facebook is a GREAT way to get your shop started with followers and promoted of your work.
- Buy your own product and show it off. Or buy for someone else. Be proud of your art! I recently bought a hoodie and a t-shirt from my Society6. People ask me where I got it, when I say I designed it, they look shocked. So I give them my buissness cards.
- As far as sales go, you will have lows like the summer and you will have highs like the holidays. But if you sit their waiting for a sale, it’s not going to happen. Walk away, ignore that fact that you want a sale. Don’t expect them!
- Create when you have ideas! Don’t force yourself to be creative.
